Travel Insurance for a 3-Week Philippines Trip: What to Compare
A three-week Philippines trip may involve international flights, domestic connections and stays on several islands. Compare the policy against that complete itinerary rather than choosing only by the country name or lowest premium. This checklist is written for U.S.-resident travelers considering an international trip.
Include every travel day
Use the date you leave home and the date you return, including overnight flights and transit stops. List all destinations requested by the application. Check the maximum trip length and ask how a delayed return affects the end date.
Review medical and evacuation arrangements
Check emergency medical benefits, deductibles and the assistance contact number. For a trip away from major hospitals, ask how transport is authorized and what evacuation benefits actually cover. Do not assume evacuation means a flight directly to your home.
Look closely at inter-island connections
Separate tickets and ferry connections deserve specific questions. Ask which delays qualify, what waiting period applies and whether a missed connection benefit applies to your particular transport. Leave a practical buffer before the international flight home; insurance does not make a tight connection reliable.
Describe your activities honestly
Read the exclusions before arranging diving, motorcycling or other adventure activities. Check any licensing, equipment or supervision conditions in the actual policy. Ask whether search and rescue is a separate benefit.
Build a comparison sheet
- Medical and evacuation limits and exclusions.
- Twenty-one days plus your actual transit dates.
- Refundable versus nonrefundable bookings.
- Covered transport disruptions and activity conditions.
- Assistance, claim documents and payment arrangements.
Check current entry and health information separately before departure. This guide does not establish an entry requirement. For the insurance basics, see medical versus cancellation coverage.
